Boston Baked BonzYou want the best for your canine companion – they’re family.

But what you may consider as healthy might not actually be as good as you think. Too often, the treats and foods that are made for dogs are sourced from unhealthy by-products and ‘toxic soups’ that simply don’t come to mind when hearing the catchy jingle or looking at the happy owner on the front of the bag. In reality, these foods can contain ingredients like chicken feet and assorted ligaments – and that’s just the start. Many of these dog food plants are notoriously known for the “4 D’s”: dead, dying, diseased, disabled. Why? These are the type of cattle that are sent to the rendering plants.

That said, if you want something good to give your dog, you’ll have to do some digging. We decided to do just that, and what we found was pleasing to us and our pups: Boston Baked Bonz, one of the best sources for organic, vegan dog treats. Not only does the company advocate dog treats that are both healthy and delicious, but they are also committed to the idea of looking at your dog like family. In fact, the cookies themselves are supposed to symbolize a “thank you for being part of my family” gesture, so says the company.

What really sold us though was the reaction to the snacks. We tried the Gingerbread Snaps and Pea Pods on three different dogs on different occasions to make sure we’d get a fair test. Each dog loved the treats and came back for more! Needless to say, they were a hit!

Gingerbread Snaps

The first item we tested out was the Gingerbread Snaps Cookie. This cookie just looked amazing (which is why we didn’t question the strange bite missing from each one!). The look, though, was only upstaged by the smell, which was rich and pungent in ginger, just like the real thing. All three dogs loved them and quickly gobbled them down. It looked like they broke down and crumbled a bit, but not into anything small enough to get stuck in your carpet.

Pea Pods for Pooches

The Pea Pods were interesting. We weren’t sure what to expect with feeding the dogs peas, but once we saw how quickly they were devoured, we knew Boston Baked Bonz was on to something. The peas are pureed, then blended into an organic dough mix. They’re crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside, making them a verifiable dessert-style treats for dogs, but without the unhealthy ingredients.

Healthy Dog Treats with Purpose

Without a doubt, the treats from Boston Baked Bonz were a hit. The dogs loved them, they were top notch quality with equally high quality, ethical ingredients and they were unique – this is a company with purpose and pizazz. So when you think about getting your dog  healthy treat, think about who’ll you’ll be buying from: the rendering plant or the artisan bakers at Boston Baked Bonz?
