Starting when she was in 7th grade, President and Founder of Bee Hive Candles, Jennifer Wesolowski, began working on her uncle’s honey farm in northern Minnesota. What started out as summer help slowly grew into a hobby, being rooted in an appreciation for the simple, pure, and high quality nature of beeswax. As the years went by, what once was a hobby turned into a profession, and Bee Hive Candles was born.

Today, Jennifer (with her husband) carries that same deep-rooted appreciation into the workplace. (To be frank, we think the bees can even sense it. After we asked, we learned – somewhat surprisingly – that Jen has hardly ever been stung! Reciprocity at its best!).

Each candle is made from clean, lightly filtered (with only natural and safe cotton or nylon), 100 percent pure beeswax. Even the wicks of the candles are integral to the mission of high-quality production, being made from square braided cotton for optimal burning sources that help maintain the structure and prevent tunneling.

Our Experience

Here at Organic Soul, we tried out the Beeswax Pillar Candle with the red coloring. Not only did the candle let out a light, sweet honey smell, but it helped add some vibrancy to our office! We kept it burning all day and the candle lasted just fine, only slowly creeping down, but without making a waxy mess. Without a doubt, this candle easily beat out any of those name brand attempts at beeswax candles. At times, imitators will use as little as 5 percent beeswax. This results in a low-quality candle that just can’t compete with the real thing.

We also got a chance to try out one of the Aromatherapy Candles. Tested by Organic Soul’s founder, Jameson Morris, we thought these candles “let out very delicate, soothing scent.” While the scent was robust enough to fill the room, it didn’t put out an overbearing smell. Just from sniffing the candle itself, you can get a sense of this – these carry a natural scent that is in some ways “weaker” than synthetic scents. To us, while the scent may not be as pungent per se, the natural approach helps add quality to both the air and the product itself.
