Hi YogaEnriching your child’s life with useful, practical knowledge is the job of every parent. As your child  inevitably grows and matures, it’s crucial that you help provide the tools for dealing with life’s stressors, challenges, and successes.

One great way to do that is through Yoga, a calming, centering practice that is known to help bring mental and physical balance. There’s just one problem: how do you get your children to settle down and actually practice yoga? Good question. And Hi Yoga is here to help.

The Mission of Hi Yoga

Through instructional videos and resources, Hi Yoga is here to help your child learn balance and focus. Developed by Kelly Wood, owner of Karuna Yoga in Los Angeles, CA, Hi Yoga is influenced by her studies in Hatha and Kundalini Yoga, along with dance, philosophy, and art history. This blends together to make a form of yoga that’s very digestible for children – perfect for learning the basics, which are communicated in three simple steps.

For children, it’s all about finding that center, focusing attention, and reducing hyperactivity without any distractions. Practicing with Hi Yoga also helps improve listening and comprehension skills, making the benefits of this practice far extend from the benefits of yoga alone. It also strengthens emotional control and enriches one’s feelings. Just like “grown up” yoga, this promotes acceptance, fluidity, and mental balance.

Physically, this practice is also very beneficial, teaching balance, coordination, core muscle strength, and flexibility. The exercise also helps improve breathing and body control – both being vital tools for the road of life.

Overall, the exercise really helps to reinforce the good in your child. Self-esteem, self-pride, and excitement will all be improved by Hi Yoga. In fact, even if we ignore the benefits of yoga, this program is just fun to practice! Kids will love getting the chance to stretch in strange ways, learn about their bodies, and find out how flexible they really are. Getting a few children together is probably the best way to practice Hi Yoga – it makes it a very educational, very fun game of sorts. Even through a DVD, Hi Yoga is able to communicate meaningful messages in an artful way!

Teaching Focus, Calmness, and Health

Hi Yoga helps facilitate an atmosphere of calm – perfect for winding down after the day, getting ready for homework, or when you need to feel better for whatever reason. Making this routine a part of your child’s everyday is a great way to put them on the pathway for clearer thinking. It will teach self-control, boost self-esteem, and make your child self-aware. Plus, if you have yet to experience or attempt yoga, it’s a fun way to be introduced to the practice, delivering simple instructions you can work on right alongside your child!
