Summer has long been celebrated as a time for passion, love, energy, and warmth. It is indeed the season for fun, growth, and fervor.
However, like all seasons, summer comes to an end. At the time of this writing, summer is nearly reaching that end – literally just a day away from the start of Autumn. This has caused me to wonder if the seasons just come and go with dates. Or is there something else there. Do people ever celebrate the time passing? Do you? What is a proper way of parting with a season?
Simply put, with the end of summer right around the corner, how are you planning on ending the season?
——
“When summer’s end is nighing
And skies at evening cloud,
I muse on change and fortune
And all the feats I vowed
When I was young and proud.”
- First stanza of “When summer’s end is nighing” by AE Housman, a fitting poem that speaks to the aging of seasons and the aging of those who watch them pass.
