Yoga Mix is a series consisting of 4 parts.

PanamericanaThis week’s mix starts with a sitar and ends with Tibetan singing bowls.  What happens in between is a dynamic mix intended for a more fiery and awakening practice.  Likely appropriate for a session in the morning, in the cold, or whenever a little energy is desired, you could also loop it, turn down the lights, and turn your living room into a mini lounge.

This playlist from a class I taught on January 4th features DJ Cam’s Soulshine (2002), a delicious blend of chill jazz, French lounge vibes, and gentle hip-hop beats.  Indonesian singer and songwriter Anggun blesses single “Summer in Paris” with her seductively soothing voice, and was to later re-release that song in her Best-Of (2006) album.

Argentinian artist Federico Aubele also makes a heavy appearance this week, as his Panamericana (2007) blends more traditional tango aesthetics with a rhythmic ambiance that seems to massage you from the inside out.

After preparing the mind for complete relaxation with a flute solo, the mix makes a careful transition into savasana with Tibetan singing bowls meant to align the chakras and send healing energy throughout your body’s tissues.
